Human Corona Virus - Yes, it's here. Facts vs Fear
Updated: Mar 13, 2020
The human corona virus has reached Michigan.
As of today there are 12 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Michigan. Cases Montcalm and Ionia counties have just recently been confirmed. What does that mean for you and your family? The CDC's website has a lot of good information to educate yourself.
Prevention of Coronavirus
There is currently no vaccine to prevent coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). The best way to prevent illness is to avoid being exposed to this virus.
The virus is thought to spread mainly from person-to-person.
Between people who are in close contact with one another (within about 6 feet).
Through respiratory droplets produced when an infected person coughs or sneezes.
These droplets can land in the mouths or noses of people who are nearby or possibly be inhaled into the lungs.
“"Older adults and people who have severe underlying chronic medical conditions like heart or lung disease or diabetes seem to be at higher risk for developing more serious complications from COVID-19 illness. Please consult with your health care provider about additional steps you may be able to take to protect yourself."”
Cleaning, Disinfecting & Prevention
Maintaining a clean environment is important in stopping the spread of most any virus. COVID-19 is no different. Clean AND disinfect frequently touched surfaces daily. This includes tables, doorknobs, light switches, countertops, handles, desks, phones, keyboards, toilets, faucets, and sinks.
